Campaign Story

In July of 2023, large wildfires broke out in various parts of Attica, which are spreading to more and more areas of Attica’s regional unit. At the same time, there have been fire fronts located in areas all around Greece, while it’s estimated that new fire fronts will appear in other parts of the country. People are losing their homes. Forests and animals are burning. Firefighters, medical and nursing staff, as well as volunteers, are fighting an uneven battle in order to save not only lives, but also a life’s worth labor of our fellow citizens.

The Act of Kindness organization is immediately getting into action in order to support the fire-ravaged areas, by visiting the fire fronts, in order to conduct an assessment and to work with the certified organizations and competent bodies, in order to immediately cover the needs that daily surface.

Today, on 20.7.23, a group of our volunteers will visit the fire fronts of the Attica’s regional unit, while bringing supplies, which include expendable medical and medicinal supplies (such as gauze, burn creams, saline, etc.) and other essential items (such as water bottles and food supplies), which will be distributed to the residents, the firefighters and the local health centers of the affected areas. The aid missions will continue intensively until the wildfires are extinguished, while afterwards there will be a new assessment of the area’s needs, after further communication with the local, competent bodies.

We have set a SUPPORT ACTION PLAN for all fire fronts of Greece, not only while the fires are in progress, but also after they are extinguished. During the outbreak of the fire fronts, we proceed to our PRIMARY SUPPORT plan, by providing the residents, the fire fighters and the medical facilities, with expendable medical and medicinal supplies, food supplies, essential items and food for the animals. In the context of implementing the above actions, we are creating an open-target fundraising aid campaign to meet the needs that already exist and those that will arise in the coming period. All donations collected for this purpose are posted daily on the donation wall that you will find in the link of the campaign. There will be detailed information on the actions that will be carried out, as well as a full financial report on the resources that will be used during their implementation.

Now is the time to go into action! Together, we can make it happen!

Let us all join forces for our fellow citizens, for our homes, for our animals, for our forests, for our Greece!
